New York wines get some real respect
Imagine my excitement when I opened the mail yesterday to find the latest issue of Wine Spectator magazine and on it’s cover in bright yellow letters “New York Wine Country”. I couldn’t wait to open it and read the articles about what we celebrate every year at the Hudson Valley Wine Fest. We already know what fantastic wines are produced here in New York, but it’s great to see many of our favorite wineries getting international recognition from probably the most popular wine magazine.
I was pleased reading through the featured wineries to see so many familiar names who will be attending the Wine Fest this year. Even the home of our Fest, the Greig Farm, was given a special mention.
It’s great to know that for people interested in truly experiencing the fine vintages available from New York, they will be able to sample a lot of it at the Hudson Valley Wine & Food Fest this year.
Too Blue to perform at the Hudson Valley Wine & Food Fest
The 2006 Hudson Valley Wine & Food Fest is happy to welcome Too Blue, original bluegrass and swing artists, as performers. Too Blue, led by Joan Harrison (banjo & lead vocals) and Betsy Rome (guitar & vocals) will perform on Saturday September 9 from 11:30-2:00pm and Sunday September 10 from 11:30-1:00pm. The ensemble of Too Blue is rounded out by Jack Murphy on bass and Michael Sassano on the mandolin.
Don’t let the name fool you. Too Blue’s sound is anything but sad and blue. Their music is bouncy, cheerful bluegrass and swing. Joan and Betsy’s voices are in perfect harmony and the music is infectious. We felt they’d be a perfect compliment to a sunny fall afternoon tasting wine and great food. You can check out their sound at www.toobluemusic.com and order their latest CD entitled A Little on the Blue Side.
