We are thrilled to announce a new addition to our lineup of 2017 Hudson Valley Wine & Food Fest Demonstrating Chefs, Chef Gail Sokol. A chef, author and culinary instructor for over 16 years, Chef Sokol will demonstrate her recipe for “Crispy Pesto and Parmesan Pastry Twists” from her newest cookbook, “Baking with Success”. The incredible flakiness of this recipe makes a spectacular appetizer that goes with any wine. Limited samples will be provided.
Normally an arduous process, puff pastry is de-mystified by Chef Sokol with her down- to- earth teaching techniques that will inspire anyone to attempt this incredibly, easy version of this flakiest of pastries. Chef Sokol will demonstrate exactly what puff pastry is, how it rises, and share her unique recipe for what she has named “puff pastry in a hurry”.
Lighter and flakier than the pre-made, store bought version, Chef Sokol fills her version of puff pastry with pesto and parmesan cheese. The shaping of these tasty appetizers is fun, quick and can even be put together right before a cocktail party with some help from your guests. These appetizers can be frozen and reheated to be served warm or at room temperature. Flaky, crispy, salty and cheesy. What could make a better wine pairing!
Chef Sokol’s demonstration will be followed by a meet and greet where she would be happy to sign copies of her book.
